Sittin’ Pretty, 1996 and Spittin’ Image, 2001
Patrick Dougherty began creating nature-based sculptures in 1980. The medium for his works is primarily sticks, with which he creates sculptures of great magnitude. He created Sittin’ Pretty for the South Carolina Botanical Garden in 1996, and then later returned in 2001 to assemble Spittin’ Image. He currently resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his wife and son in a house that he designed and hand-built himself.
