Nils-Udo
Bavaria, Germany
Nils-Udo was born in 1937 in Bavaria, Germany. He began painting in the 1960s on traditional surfaces such as canvas, but in the 1970’s, Nils-Udo turned to sculpting with items from nature. Because of this, virtually all of his works are only around for a limited amount of time. His signature sculpture is the Nest, and has been showcased in numerous locations around the world. In 2005, he created a version for the South Carolina Botanical Garden called Clemson Clay Nest. In 2007, the sculpture was considered to be unsafe and was disassembled. Since 2004, Nils-Udo has returned to painting.
